Periodontics at Giddani Health Group Ltd

What Is Periodontics?

Periodontics is the branch of dentistry focused on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of gum disease.

This includes conditions like gingivitis and periodontitis, which can lead to gum inflammation, bone loss, and tooth mobility if left untreated.

Understanding Gum Disease

Gingivitis – Early Stage

Gingivitis is the initial, reversible stage of gum disease. It occurs when plaque builds up along and under the gum line, causing irritation.

Symptoms include:

  • Bleeding gums when brushing or flossing
  • Red, swollen, or tender gums
  • Persistent bad breath
With professional treatment and improved oral hygiene, gingivitis can be reversed.

Periodontitis – Advanced Stage

If gingivitis is not treated, it can progress to periodontitis.

This more severe form of gum disease can cause:

  • Loss of tooth-supporting bone
  • Receding gums
  • Loose or shifting teeth
Bone loss due to periodontitis is irreversible, but treatment can help prevent further damage.

Signs You May Have Gum Disease

Be alert to these common symptoms:
  • Gums that bleed during or after brushing or flossing

  • Persistent bad breath

  • Red, swollen, or tender gums

  • Receding gums

  • Loose or shifting teeth

  • Painful chewing

If you notice any of these signs, it's important to consult a dental professional promptly.
