Bone & Sinus Augmentations at Giddani Health Group Ltd

What is Bone Augmentation?

Bone augmentation rebuilds the jawbone where natural bone volume is inadequate. The aim is to create a stable harbour for dental implants.

Graft options include:
o Autograft – your own bone (often taken from the ramus of the mandible)
o Allograft – donor human bone
o Xenograft – processed animal bone (e.g., bovine)
o Synthetic grafts – lab-manufactured substitute materials

Healing time typically ranges from 3 to 6 months (or sometimes longer depending on the extent). l

What is a Sinus Lift?

A sinus lift (also called sinus augmentation) raises the floor of the maxillary sinus and places bone graft material beneath it. This creates the required bone height (often ≈ 5 mm or more) to support dental implants in the upper back jaw.
Ideal for patients previously told they weren’t suitable for implant therapy due to insufficient bone.

Steps include :

    1. Clinical and radiographic assessment (CBCT scan)
    2. Local anaesthetic (or sedation if needed)
    3. Accessing the sinus, lifting the membrane, placing graft
    4. Healing period (typically several months) before implants are placed

Why we may recommend bone or sinus augmentation

Successful dental implants require sufficient bone quantity and quality.
In the upper back jaw, the bone often resorbs (shrinks) or the sinus cavity expands, making implant placement difficult.
If you’ve lost teeth, suffered gum disease (periodontitis) or had trauma, you may not have enough bone to support an implant.
A bone or sinus augmentation restores the foundation so implants can be placed with confidence.

Who is suitable?

Patients missing teeth for a long time and experiencing bone loss in the jaw.

Patients with upper back jaw bone loss near the sinus, making implant placement risky.

Those in good general health (we’ll assess your medical history).

Non-smokers (or willing to stop smoking) and committed to good oral hygiene and follow-up

Our team will perform full assessment and discuss all options with you.

FAQs

1Does it hurt?
You should feel minimal discomfort during the procedure because we use local anaesthesia and sedation if required. Some swelling or tenderness afterwards is normal.
2How long will it take to heal?
Healing typically takes 3 to 6 months for bone grafting. Sinus lift healing might also take several months. The exact time depends on your anatomy and health.
3Can I still get implants after augmentation?
Yes – that is the goal. Once your graft has healed, we place the implant and restore your tooth/teeth.
4What are the risks?
As with any surgical treatment there are risks (e.g., infection, graft failure, sinus complications). We will discuss these with you during the consultation and take all steps to minimise risk.
